Diversity, Equity and Inclusion Best Practices Guide
The Best Practices Guide was designed specifically for members of La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec. It is intended as a tool for reflection, evaluation, and reference with regard to internal practices and organizational culture in studios. The purpose of this Guide is to present concrete practices and methods recognized as having a significant impact on DEI in the video game industry.
Comprising two volumes, this document includes seven sections that define and demystify the theory associated with DEI. The first volume addresses the fundamentals of diversity, equity, and inclusion, the implementation of a DEI strategy, the implementation of an inclusive staffing and integration process, and the prevention and fight against harassment. The second volume covers career advancement, employee retention, and managing internal resistance. The appendix also includes an example of an inclusive job posting, a list of external resources to further equip studios, and a template for a harassment, discrimination, and violence prevention policy.
La Guilde’s Guide to Best Practices is part of a series of diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, such as workshops, discussion groups, mentoring, and support programs that promote continuous learning. Updating the guide allows us to provide our members with information that is current and adapted to evolving practices.
We would like to thank our partners who contributed to this project for our industry. In partnership with Beenox, and developed in collaboration with Élance, l’Aparté, RIQEDI, and CTIC, La Guilde is proud to offer its members a multidisciplinary tool that reaffirms our commitment to supporting video game companies in integrating DEI principles.
