Katalum is an independent studio based in Montréal. We do two things: we create our own games, which we fully own, and we put the same craft to work for clients, with websites, platforms and interactive experiences already live. We're a small team split between Montréal and France. The name comes from the catalyst, something that isn't consumed but makes everything around it react, and that's what we're after with our games.
Synthems is our first game, a 1v1 card dueling game set in a steampunk world where a scientific experiment fractured reality. Every card is a chemical element, players build a deck of four cards and a leader, and each round is played on energy wagered in secret, so bluffing is a real part of the game. The first to win three rounds takes the match. Anyone can play the prototype at https://synthems.io, no invitation needed. Atomochi, our second game, is in development: a little pixel-art creature you raise through its whole life cycle.
