Montréal, June 5, 2020 – Ubisoft, La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec and Québec EPIX, in collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal and the Government of Quebec, announce that the third edition of The Caravan will be held from June 16 to July 10, an initiative in support of independent video game studios in Quebec.

The cancellation of all trade shows due to the epidemic has resulted in a break in the game marketing cycles. Indeed, 40% of Québec studios were in the marketing stage to find publishers or investors for international missions. Therefore, this year, The Caravane is supporting sales efforts in virtual format. Among other things, the program will offer training to improve its sales pitch in order to maximize the impact of its online presentation. In addition, it will allow professional exchanges to develop new business opportunities with international delegates and investors in order to support the marketing of video game producers abroad.

“Now more than ever, our industry needs to stick together and help each other to keep up the momentum.  Congratulations to La Guilde, EPIX and the partners who were able to reinvent the concept of La Caravane and enable Canadian entrepreneurs to perfect their approach with publishers and international investors. “added Francis Baillet, Vice President – Corporate Affairs at Ubisoft.

According to Nadine Gelly, Executive Director of La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec, the video game ecosystem is creative and innovative, but above all resilient, as Quebec. “The current context forces us to reinvent our ways of doing things and to innovate. We are very pleased to join forces with key partners to support our studios in order to maintain our leadership position in the sector and protect our industry,” she said.

“By adapting to the imperatives of COVID-19, this new concept of The Caravan is another example of the important collaboration that takes place within our industry. Having made the interests of our members our priority, I am firmly convinced that this edition will, more than ever, meet the current needs of our Quebec developers. “says Mariona Ferrer, Director of Québec EPIX.

“The upheavals of recent weeks have forced us to rethink our practices, and the development of international markets imposes a particular challenge. The Chamber is pleased to contribute to the efforts of La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec and its partners by putting its expertise to work for the benefit of The Virtual Caravan. This first experience with a virtual business initiative will help strengthen ties between local video game studios and their international partners despite the current restrictions on travel and thus maintain the city’s status as a major global video game hub,” said Michel Leblanc, President and CEO of Chamber of Commerce of Metropolitan Montreal.
