Montréal, July 31, 2020 – La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec will present an action plan to help all of its members to deal with situations of harassment in the workplace. The plan will include the development of human resources training, an employee assistance program, employee manuals and an industry awareness campaign. The program, developed in close collaboration with the community and experts, will be adapted to the context of video game studios. It will also include actions to promote inclusion and diversity within teams.

The result of this approach follows the publication of a research report by TECHNOCompétences depicting the state of harassment in the information technology industry in Quebec*. Like other sectors, the technology industries are facing human resources issues. As an organization representing the video game industry in Quebec, La Guilde wants to help its members, raise their awareness and inform them about best practices. In an environment known to be male-dominated, diversification in the workplace must accelerate to include more women, members of the LGBTQ+ communities, BIPOC (Black, Indigenous and People of colour).

“La Guilde wants to propose lasting, structuring solutions and offer a program that can be quickly implemented by the studios and adapted to their reality. Our goal will be to raise awareness of the existence of these issues among the players in our industry and, above all, to communicate best practices to our members. The development of this plan is the priority of our Board of Directors and our efforts will be deployed for this project in the coming months. We are committed to the development of this plan,” promises Nadine Gelly, Executive Director of La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec.
