Innovation Support Program 2022

The 2nd cohort of the Innovation Support Program has launched!

Are you ready to propel yourself among the world leaders?

In a highly competitive context where new technologies are developing at a very high speed, it is important for independent video game studios to maintain their place among the world leaders.

As the third world largest video game industry in the world, Quebec is recognized for its creativity and its potential for innovation. In a highly competitive context where new technologies are developing at a very high speed, it is important for independent video game studios to preserve their place among the world leaders. It is therefore essential to ensure that the new projects developed are at the cutting edge of technology.

For several years, Canada Media Fund (CMF) programs and other funding programs have supported the game industry in Quebec. However, some of these programs require a very high level of innovation on the part of studios that are not always equipped to identify opportunities in this regard. Therefore, La Guilde du jeu vidéo du Québec, in partnership with the CDRIN, is proposing to set up an innovation support program by creating grants and a committee of innovation experts to evaluate projects from independent Quebec video game studios that will be submitted to the CMF’s research and innovation support grant programs and other provincial and federal funding programs. The idea is to maximize the chances of success for the studio.

La Guilde has partnered with CDRIN because of its extensive experience in setting up scientific committees. CDRIN will provide an ethical and scientific framework and cover conflict of interest, inclusion, intellectual property management, etc. that will guide the committee through the process.

How does the Innovation Support Program work?

A cohort of 5 studios will be created in the winter of 2022. Selected by a jury of experts, they will be accompanied by a committee of experts in the fields of technology, business and finance.

  • propose research avenues;
  • guide in the writing of funding applications to the CMF and other R&D programs.

The selected studios will benefit from these services

They will be accompanied by more than twenty researchers, professors and experts in innovation
